Free Peer Tutoring - Math & English

Fall 2009 hours of operation for the Math Place and Writing Place at the University at Buffalo, North Campus.

These free peer tutoring services are for undergraduate students.

The Math Place (209 Baldy) is open on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. We offer mathematics tutoring for students enrolled in the following undergraduate courses: ULC 147, ULC 148, MTH 115, 121, 122, 131, 141, 142.

The Writing Place (209A Baldy) is open on Mondays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. We offer tutoring for undergraduate students in any course in which essays or other writing assignments are given.

Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellowship Program

The Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellowship Program provides undergraduate and graduate funding to participants as they are prepared academically and professionally to enter the United States Department of State Foreign Service. Fellowships fund up to two years of college and a year of graduate school, including tuition, room, board, books and fees. Fellows must commit to pursuing a graduate degree in international studies at an approved institution. Second-year college students who are US citizens with minimum grade point averages of 3.2 are eligible to apply. Fourth-year students may be interested in the Graduate Foreign Affairs Fellowship also sponsored by the Department of State. National deadline to apply is February 2010. Institutional nomination is required and self-nominations are due by October 1st.

Important Fall 2009 Dates

Welcome to UB!  If you have questions or concerns regarding your Fall 2009 semester schedule be sure to contact your Academic Advisor.  If you have GENERAL academic questions you can see a University Scholars staff member in Student Advising Services at 109 Norton Hall.  University Scholars drop-in hours are every week on Mondays from 1-2 p.m. and Tuesdays from 3-4 p.m in 107B Norton Hall. You can also e-mail academic questions or concerns to us throughout the semester by sending a message to university-scholars@buffalo.edu.

Mark Your Calendars for These Very Important Fall 2009 Semester Dates:

· Monday, August 31, 2009 - UB fall classes begin.

· Friday, September 4, 2009 - LAST day to drop a Fall 2009 course without financial liability.

· Monday, September 7, 2009 – Labor Day. UB is closed.

· Friday, September 11, 2009 - LAST day (by 11 pm) to drop/add a Fall 2009 course. Resigning with a grade of “R” begins Saturday, September 12, 2009.

· Friday, September 18, 2009 – Rosh Hashanah. Classes canceled after 6 pm.

· Saturday, September 19, 2009 – Classes resume at 6 pm.

· Sunday, September 27, 2009 – Yom Kippur. Classes canceled after 6 pm.

· Monday , September 28, 2009 – Classes resume at 6 pm.

· Tuesday, September 29, 2009 – Tentative date Spring 2010 Class Schedule will be available on the web.

· Friday, November 13, 2009 - LAST day (by 11 pm) for ALL UB students to resign a Fall 2009 semester course(s) with a grade of “R”.

· Wednesday, November 25, 2009 – Sunday, November 29, 2009 – Fall Recess. No classes.

· Friday, December 11, 2009 – Last day of Fall 2009 classes.

· Monday, December 14, 2009 - Monday, December 21, 2009 – Final Exams week.
