Still Can’t Find an Internship? Not sure where to start? The professional staff the Cora P. Maloney College work with students to identify their needs, and to identify the skills and knowledge they would like to develop. Additionally, they will then help students utilize a number of resources to find the perfect fit. This is an opportunity for students to gain direct exposure to and practical experience from a diverse range of public, private, government or community service agencies and businesses locally, nationally and internationally in an effort to improve the community we live in.

Taking a course elsewhere this summer? If you plan on taking a course at another campus this summer be sure that you consult with an Academic Advisor and that you utilize TAURUS, UB’s transfer and articulation web site. Remember that once you complete a course at another campus, you need to be sure that you have sent an official transcript to UB!
The LAST day to resign (R) a spring semester course(s) for all undergraduate students is tomorrow, Friday, March 27, 2009 by 11 pm (using MyUB or BIRD).
If you are considering resigning from a course(s) be sure that you have:
- Talked with your instructor to discuss if you can obtain any additional help.
- Spoken with an Academic Advisor to discuss strategies to improve your performance and to learn of the consequences of course resignation, including how changes to your course load could impact your sequence of required courses or your time to graduation.
- Talked with financial aid to learn how changes in your course load may impact financial aid.
- Learned how changes to your course load may impact your medical insurance eligibility.
- Verified you have no checkstops which may prevent all registration activity.
Remember: If you are contemplating resigning from any courses this spring, talk with your instructors, speak with your Advisor, and use the following UB resources to assist you:

Do you want to develop leadership, communication and public speaking skills, gain valuable teaching experience, increase your self awareness, cultivate lasting relationships with University faculty, staff and students and become more aware of campus resources? Would you like to earn 3 credits while enhancing your resume at the same time? Apply to become a UB101 Peer Mentor for fall 2009!
UB 101 Peer Mentors are undergraduate students who serve as role models and sources of support to new students enrolled in the UB 101 class. Peer Mentors work in collaboration with a UB 101 Instructor, assisting them with class preparation and facilitating discussions within the class. As an overview, UB 101 is a course designed to assist first year students in making the transition to the University at Buffalo, providing a framework for their success as students. Through a small and interactive classroom environment intended to engage students in learning, this course focuses on providing resources, fostering important relationships, and helping students to understand their responsibilities and privileges within the University community. UB 101 classes meet once a week for 50 minutes.
To be eligible to become a Peer Mentor, you must be a currently enrolled undergraduate student at UB who will have completed at least 60 credit hours by August 2009. Peer Mentors should be in good academic standing, maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA and be in good disciplinary standing. Students with at least 30 credits and/or a 2.5 GPA will still be considered in the application process and are encouraged to apply. The New Student Programs staff is looking for individuals who are representative of the diversity of the UB student community in their experiences and interests. Peer Mentor candidates should possess a variety of qualities, including (but not limited to):
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to interact well with others within a group and individual setting
- Awareness of UB resources
- A willingness to take initiative
- Pride in being a successful UB student
- A desire to work with new students, faculty, and staff
- Ability to problem solve
- A willingness to learn
