UE141 – Discovery Seminars: UB’s Discovery Seminar Program offers a small class experience for first- and second-year students, providing them with the opportunity to engage with a distinguished faculty member around a thought-provoking and challenging topic.


CAS101 – Trends in Arts and Sciences: This class is a series of lectures presented by faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences who deliver exciting and informative lectures on their discipline and research interests. Some UB alumni also join in the presentations and talk about their own work experiences and how their degree worked for them.


GSE155 – Methods of Inquiry: The Methods of Inquiry course is all about thinking. Blending insights from cognitive psychology and philosophy, the course offers students concrete ways to approach their studies by helping them become actively involved in their own learning process.


UBE110 – Interpersonal Skills for Leading and Serving: This course builds on the foundational leadership skills students need to be leaders on and off campus. This course is designed to prepare students for positions of leadership, enhancing their skill building in the areas of conflict resolution, communication, problem solving, decision making, and much more. This course is highly interactive and uses experiential activities as the context for learning.


UBE202 – Career Planning: UBE 202 can assist students in many areas of their career development, from choosing a major and deciding on occupations, to learning about resumes, interviewing, and job search strategies. Let experienced career services professionals help you gain a better understanding of yourself and the process of selecting a major/career.


UBE496 – Leadership and Service Education: This course is an advanced leadership course that prepares students to become facilitators and educators of leadership through teambuilding, community service, and presentation experiences. Students will gain the important skills of facilitating teambuilding activities for groups, planning and processing community service experiences, and developing their presentation and public speaking skills. This course is a pre-requisite to becoming a Leadership-Service Educator in the Center for Student Leadership & Community Engagement.
