Diversity Institute

Diversity Institute

NEW THIS YEAR!

Are you interested in:

  • Developing your intercultural competencies?
  • Becoming more aware of diversity and its impact?
  • Developing your knowledge of social justice issues?
  • Advocating for all of the above?

If so, the Diversity Institute is for YOU!

Note: you can also download this information as a PDF (521KB)

The Diversity Institute is designed to spark thought and engage students in conversations about the concepts of diversity, cultural identity and social justice in a safe, encouraging and challenging environment.

The four hour certificate workshop addresses specific areas of diversity that are geared to actively engage students in experiential learning via activities, team building exercises and guided dialogue. Students are encouraged to step out side of their “comfort zone” in order to probe more deeply the complexity of issues of oppression. Participants will receive a certificate at the completion of Institute for use on their resumes and portfolios.

We are holding two Diversity Institutes this year - one each semester:

  • Saturday, November 10, 2007 from 10am -2pm (lunch provided)
  • Saturday, March 1, 2008 from 10am -2pm (lunch provided)

SPOTS ARE LIMITED! If you are interested in participating in the Institute, please contact Karen King, Education Services Coordinator.
