As it is nearly the end of the road of the spring semester, please find a few kind reminders dealing with scholarship eligibility below:
* UB Scholars scholarships are granted for a maximum of 8 semesters of undergraduate study. Therefore, once your undergraduate degree is conferred, you are no longer eligible to receive the scholarship
* UB Scholars must maintain an overall UB GPA of 3.0 to receive their scholarship (a thorough review will be conducted at the end of the spring semester)
* UB Scholars must register for full time study (at least 12 credits) to receive their scholarship
* UB Scholars taking a Leave of Absence (LOA) must notify the Scholars staff (see below)
* UB Scholars Studying Abroad (during the fall or spring semester) must notify the Scholars staff (see below)
Please be advised the Scholars staff will review Scholars for scholarship eligibility starting in Mid-May. We will then mail those students with an overall UB GPA below 3.0, a letter letting them know their options regarding the possibility of having their scholarship reinstated. In the meantime, please note if you believe your UB GPA will be below 3.0 at the end of spring 2006, you do have the option to enroll in summer courses (at UB) to help raise your GPA. For information on summer courses, see the post below or visit the Summer Course listing.
Scholars taking a LOA or Studying Abroad must email the UB Scholars staff at ub-scholars@buffalo.edu. The email must include the Scholar’s full name, person number, and semester(s) in which they are taking a Leave or Studying Abroad.
If you have any questions about your eligibility please do not hesitate to contact the Scholars Staff at 716-645-6013, stop by 109 Norton Hall, or come in during Drop-In hours in 107B Norton Hall to see Titilayo Fagbenle on Tuesdays (2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.) or Wednesdays (10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.)

Taking Summer Courses at UB?
Summer courses differ from the fall and spring in that a summer session typically runs for six weeks versus sixteen weeks during the normal academic year. This means that summer session courses will be scheduled more frequently and for longer periods of time but with approximately the same amount of homework/assignments and tests/projects as the fall and spring sessions. Taking courses during the summer is a good chance to catch up on or get ahead on major and/or general education requirements.
For more information, including the specific dates of each summer session, please visit the UB Summer Course listing
Be sure to pay attention to registration and financial deadlines as well!
Taking Summer Courses Elsewhere?
Please keep in mind that although you may take courses at other locations, you must follow the correct procedures of the home institution as well as the regulations set forth by UB to transfer your credits. For more information on how your college or institution of choice handles summer courses, including course offerings and registration, please contact the specific institution! Also, make sure to see your academic advisor, as well as check out TAURUS, UB’s articulation web site which shows how transfer courses match UB courses and requirements.
Upon completion of your courses, please make sure it actually counts by sending your official transcripts to UB! This process typically takes about three to five weeks from the time you request a transcript be sent to the time it appears on your UB academic record and your DARS report.
