UB 101 Peer Mentor

UB 101 Peer Mentors are undergraduate students who serve as role models and sources of support to new students enrolled in UB 101. The New Student Programs staff is looking for students who have a diverse set of experiences and interests, take pride in being a successful student, and are knowledgeable about campus resources. Peer Mentors work in collaboration with a faculty or staff instructor, assisting with class preparation and facilitating class discussions. Peer Mentors earn valuable teaching experience, leadership and communication skills, and 3 credit hours through participation in UBE 495, a class specifically designed to help UB 101 Peer Mentors.

Application materials are available online (click on “Announcements”) and in the office of New Student Programs (112 Student Union).

Potential applicants are encouraged to attend the following information session to learn more about the position and to talk with Peer Mentors from previous years:

Academic Progress

Are you struggling in a class this semester?

If you are, please note Friday, March 10, 2006 is the last day to resign a class. You have until 11:00 p.m. to resign.

You should also speak with your instructor(s) and academic advisor(s) to discuss the impact resigning a course may have on your overall academic progress.

Resigning a course will not impact your UB Scholars Scholarship.

The competition for the University Commencement Student Speaker is open to all graduating seniors in the College of Arts and Sciences. Submit your written speech as follows:

UBThisSummer Student Assistant

Millard Fillmore College is looking for a UB undergraduate student to work as a student assistant for UBThisSummer.

Job description: Answering in-person, telephone, and e-mail inquiries regarding UBThisSummer. Perform general office work for Millard Fillmore College.

The student assistant must:
• be able to type and use word processing software
• have familiarity with UB – both physically and organizationally
• have good writing and interpersonal skills

Training about UBThisSummer will be provided. Salary is $7.00/hour. The time commitment is 20 hours per week from mid-March through August.
