ATHGO International Symposium: “The Architects of the Future”

ATHGO International is a non-profit, Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), based in the United States, whose mission is training, motivating, and inspiring future generations of international professionals to become decision-makers and diplomats with skills and vision to cope with the rapid changes and challenges of the 21st century. Established in 1999, ATHGO has been awarded consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council and the United Nations Department of Public Information for its role in educating young people in global human rights, democratic development, economic freedom, security, and other issues of a global dimension.

The sponsored symposium will convene at the United Nations (located in New York City) from April 25-27 and will involve 400 young professionals, diplomats, and students from world Universities and Colleges. The three-day event will discuss the proposed UN reform and its importance for meeting the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The goal of the symposium is to encourage the participants to co-produce a resolution that will identify the advantages of the UN reform in regards to meeting the MDGs and suggest alternative strategies for securing a constructive outcome.

Scholarships
Approximately $10,000 in total scholarships is available for ten (10) participants who display individual determination, signify collective accomplishments, and produce the most notable post-symposium position papers.

Internships
Students and young professionals can apply for internship positions to organize, lead, and direct many aspects of the symposium. For details please follow the Internship link.

Casting Call for UB Orientation Video

Spring 2006 French & Spanish Proficiency Exams

The French and Spanish Proficiency Exams are NOT placement exams. The exam is intended for students with 3 or more years of high school French or Spanish. It tests elementary and intermediate level proficiency. If students pass the French or Spanish exam, they are exempt from the Foreign Language General Education requirement (students do not receive credits for passing the Proficiency exam). For spring 2006, the exams are being offered as listed below:

Friday, March 10, 4:45 p.m. to 6:50 p.m., Clemens 322

If you are new to UB this spring semester, please be aware that SUNY now requires all UB students to acknowledge receipt of and affirm our UB Rules & Regulations before they will be permitted to register for classes. Students who do not affirm will be blocked, by checkstop, from registering for fall 2006 classes. The checkstop will be placed on students’ records in early February 2006.

You may affirm on-line and your checkstop will be immediately removed. Please affirm the University Rules and Regulations now.

Friday, January 20: Last day to drop all spring 2006 courses without financial penalty

Friday, January 27: Last day to drop spring 2006 courses without an “R” (resign) grade. Last day to add spring 2006 courses

Saturday, January 28: Course resign (“R”) period begins

Friday, March 10: Last day (by 11 P.M.) to resign spring 2006 courses
Monday, March 13 – Saturday, March 18: Spring break, UB is closed

Monday, May 1: Last day of spring 2006 courses
