Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship

The Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship Foundation awards scholarships through a national competition to sophomores and juniors who have outstanding academic potential and intend to pursue advanced degrees in mathematics, the natural sciences and engineering. Students planning to study medicine are eligible only if they plan a research career rather than a career in private practice. This scholarship covers expenses for tuition, fees, books and room and board up to $7,500 annually. Junior level recipients receive two years of support and senior level recipients receive one. Candidates must have excellent academic records. Research experience is required. Students must be nominated through the University Honors Program.

In order to have ample time for our office to work with the nominees, we are asking that interested students submit the following information to the Honors office by 5:00p.m. Friday, October 7, 2005: a one to two page statement describing their research work to date, a resume highlighting career goals, leadership positions, and awards received. From this information, the committee will select the four UB student nominees by the end of October.

For more information contact the Honors office, 214 Talbert Hall (645-3020).
